ROAD

The Rotterdam Carbon Capture and Demonstration Project (ROAD) is a full value chain CCS demonstration project being developed with a carbon capture unit with capacity equivalent to 250MW of generation. 

The project is backed by both E.ON Benelux and Electrabel Netherlands (GDF Suez), planned to be built as part of E.ON’s new 1100MW Masavlakte Power Plant 3.

The project is designed to capture, transport and permanently store 1.1 Mton of CO2 annually from the pulverized coal power plant and will use post-combustion technology.

The project is financially one of the most robust in Europe with a grant of €180m awarded by the European Union under the EEPR and in addition the Dutch Government has awarded the project a subsidy to a maximum of  €150m.

Operation of the full value chain is planned for 2015.

CCS TLM is providing approximately 50% of the engineering consultancy services along the length of the CCS value chain to oversee the design and realization of the project.
