Paul Bryant

CEO - Paul Bryant

Paul founded CCS TLM following a 30-year international career with BP during which he occupied a number of senior executive roles, the last as a Board Director of Hydrogen Energy International Limited, a BP joint venture with Rio Tinto dedicated to the decarbonisation of fossil fuels via the pre-combustion route, coupled with the manufacture of hydrogen as a clean fuel coupled with long term storage of CO2 in geological formations.

Up until leaving BP, Paul was Managing Director for the Eastern Hemisphere within Hydrogen Energy (a joint venture he originated) that included accountability for Hydrogen Power Abu Dhabi (HPAD) project, a 400MW Hydrogen Power project with CCS being jointly developed with the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (ADFEC) or Masdar.

Paul graduated with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1989 and spent his early career progressing as a professional engineer, rotating through increasingly senior roles, becoming Chartered in 2001 and a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) in 2010.

As a founding member of BP's Hydrogen Power business, Paul was deeply involved in the UK's Peterhead project, the first industrial scale power project with CCS to obtain a Section 36 planning approval. It has since acted as the catalyst for more than 80 similar projects now under development globally._Paul was also the original lead for BP's Hydrogen Power project in California and BP's project at Kwinana in Western Australia, one of the first projects to explore the possibility of a saline formation as a site for the long-term storage of CO2.

Prior to 2005 Paul, was BP's Planning and Strategy Manager for its Wind and Solar businesses in London. Before that he spent almost 10 years in senior commercial roles in BP's Gas, LNG & Power and Upstream businesses in London, Aberdeen and Saudi Arabia. Paul returned from the UAE in 2010 and now lives in Surrey, England.
