Why do CCS projects need a TLM approach?

With the many stakeholders likely to be involved or affected by CCS projects and programmes TLM improves the whole management process. It encourages individuals and teams to consider the long-term implications and requirements of CCS value chains and securely underpin their long-term environmental and commercial benefits.

Avoiding pitfalls

In situations where different interests are involved and different bodies from differing backgrounds work together, for the what is often the first time, it’s essential to have a participant whose knowledge and overview can bring all those interests together, properly informed and in a cohesive group.
There have been many well-publicised examples of projects where the longer-term implications were not recognised or were ignored when decisions were made.  Plant and equipment has also been commissioned without the necessary support, trained operators, associated facilities and equipment to meet the original objective. CCS TLM is committed to the TLM philosophy to avoid such pitfalls.

Why do we need to make through life decisions?

Cost decisions are made during the early stages of any project.  However, most of the Whole Life Cost is actually spent when the plant or equipment is in the operating phase of its lifecycle, as shown in the diagram below.
